Cancun, Mexico
Hi guys! Sorry this is so late, I just started a new teaching job and it has been taking up most of my time for the last few weeks! π
I just recently returned from Mexico with my boyfriend, and I miss it so much already! We had a blast, however we had a couple rough days when the first hurricane of the season decided to come straight through Cancun during the middle of our trip! ππ We made the best out of it, but it was definitely a bummer having to stay inside for two days while it was rainy and windy outside.
Hotel:
- We stayed at an amazing place called the Oleo hotel, down towards the southern tip of the Hotel Zone in Cancun. While the rooms were fairly pricey per night, we were able to find an afforadable Airbnb condo inside of the hotel! We were also able to purchase all inclusive wristbands for $60 per day, which was well worth it. ππΌ
- The only downside of the hotel was that part of it was under construction, so we were not able to go to a few of the restaurants. However, I think once it's finished, it will be absolutely incredible!
Below Iβve also included a great site to help you book the perfect vacation rental!

Food:
- The hotel had three main restaurants open: Azul, Hakka, and the pool side restaurant/bar. Other than this there were a few bars scattered throughout the hotel as well as a small coffee shop in the lobby. The food was good at each place, however I preferred Hakka over the other restaurants. With a beautiful menu of sushi, sashimi, sake and other yummy Asian treats, I definitely made use of my $60 per day wristband there! Their black and white sashimi, lemon roll and fried rice were all to die for! π
Activities:
- Beach, beach and more beach time π When we weren't hunkered down in our hotel room waiting our the storm, we spent all of our time down at the beach! The water was beautiful and warm, and although the water was pretty wavy, it was still perfect. We also took the $1 local bus into downtown Cancun one night and did a little shopping at the La Isla Shopping Village.
Here are some of our pictures from the trip!
The view from our room! Looking out on the third tower which is under construction. After it's completed I think the hotel will be absolutely beautiful!
PiΓ±a coladas allllll day π
And obligatory tequila shots! π
