Hi.

I'm Paige! Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, along with simple tips to make the most of your own travels. Enjoy!

San Diego, California

San Diego, California

I love San Diego. From the weather, to the scenery, to the amount of things to do, no wonder so many people flock to this beautiful SoCal city. We were only there for two days to celebrate my best friend’s birthday, but we squeezed a TON of things in to those two days! Here are some of the things we did during our stay!

Accommodations:

- We stayed at Hotel Indigo in the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego and we absolutely loved it. It wasn’t terribly expensive but the hotel was still beautiful and felt very nice. It’s right within walking distance to most shops and restaurants and it also had a killer rooftop bar with great views where we got drinks the first night!

Things to do/see:

- Coronado Island: Coronado Island is located just about 15 minutes from downtown San Diego. Its crown jewel - the Hotel Del Coronado is an absolutely beautiful hotel that’s surrounded by tons of little shops and restaurants! It’s a great area to spend a few hours in or, if you want to splurge, book a room at the Hotel Del!

- La Jolla: La Jolla is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. The scenery is breathtaking, and the quiet, laid back feeling makes it the perfect place to spend an afternoon and browse through some local shops.

- Mission Beach: In my opinion, Mission Beach is very similar to Venice Beach. They are both awesome - people on bikes and skateboards riding up and down the boardwalk, people relaxing at the beach, and at Mission Beach, you can ride on roller coasters and bumper cars at its very own amusement park right near the water!

- Seaport Village: This was one of my favorite places we visited on the trip! Located right near the marina in downtown San Diego, it was the perfect place to peruse through local shops and just sit and enjoy the atmosphere.

- San Diego Zoo: How can you go to San Diego and NOT go to the world famous zoo?! The San Diego Zoo is gigantic - we spent close to 5 hours there and only saw about 70% of the zoo. Be sure to bring some good walking shoes, a hat, and a camera!

- Balboa Park: We only had about 20 minutes to spend at Balboa Park, but it was absolutely lovely from what we did see! All of the architecture is beautiful and if you had enough time, it would be the perfect place to have a picnic!

Food/Drinks:

- Miguel’s: We ate here during our afternoon on Coronado Island. If you like Mexican food, you’d like this place - I would recommend the shrimp enchiladas!

- Lips: For my best friend’s birthday, we celebrated by going to Drag Brunch one morning! For only about $30 per person, it included your cover fee, an entree and bottomless mimosas! Let me tell you, we definitely took advantage of the mimosas. 😂 The show was fun and the drag queens were fabulous! It was the perfect spot to celebrate a birthday.

- Oxford Social Club: This was one of my favorite parts of the trip! Oxford Social Club is located right down in the middle of the Gaslamp Quarter. It had a night club feel without feeling pretentious, and they had a great dj! I would recommend it for those of you looking to go out in the Gaslamp Quarter.

Here are some photos from our trip!
