Ibiza, Spain
During our time in Spain last month, we spent three nights in Ibiza and three nights in Barcelona and had an absolutely incredible time! Here, I’ve laid out everything we saw, ate, drank and did in Ibiza. Enjoy!
Accommodations:
Hotel Torre del Mar: We chose this hotel for its proximity to both Ibiza Town and the clubs on Playa d’en Bossa. We were about a 25 minute walk/8 minute drive to both Ushuaïa and Hï, where we planned to go on our first night. Our taxis there and back were cheap and fast, which we loved. We were also about a 15 minute taxi drive to Ibiza Town which was nice! Our hotel was clean, the staff was friendly, and the best part was the breakfast buffet each morning! I would highly recommend adding this on for the extra ~€15 per person per day.
Things to See/Do:
Ibiza Town: Ibiza Town is definitely worth visiting if you have the time! The historic Dalt Vila area has some of the best shops, restaurants and sightseeing in town. This area is especially enchanting at night. :) We spent time there on each day of our trip, and saw something new each time!
Clubs (Ushuaïa & Hï): During our time in Ibiza, we decided that we wanted to have just one big night out at the clubs. We used this amazing website to check which djs were playing on the island during our stay, and narrowed it down to seeing David Guetta at Ushuaïa and Eric Prydz at Hï. Both clubs and djs were amazing, and that night ended up being my favorite part of our trip! See more travel tips about this below!
Beach Club: After a long night of clubbing, we needed a day of rest and relaxation. We decided to book two beach loungers and an umbrella for the day at Cotton Beach Club, which is on the southwest part of the island - about a thirty minute taxi ride from our hotel. We paid about €160 for the two beach chairs, umbrella, towels, waters, and it also included a chilled bottle of wine. The water was calm, crystal clear and the perfect temperature for taking a dip! There are plenty of beach clubs to choose from across the island, but I would definitely suggest Cotton Beach Club if you’re not sure where to go.
Boat Day: We booked a full day sailboat excursion through Airbnb Experiences and had a wonderful time. Our hosts Alberto and Irina made the day very enjoyable and included waters, coffee, wine and even a light lunch for everyone on board. We sailed to S'Espalmador Island and then on to Playa de Ses Illetes on Formentera. The water was some of the prettiest I’ve ever seen, and we were able to get out and swim, snorkel and even paddle board at both stops. I would highly recommend doing a boat excursion like this if you have the time!
We ran out of time, or else we would have loved to also see Es Vedrà, Formentera, Sant Antoni de Portmany and more parts of the island!
Food/Drinks:
Zanzibar: We stopped here in between Ushuaïa and Hï and got a few great cocktails while we waited for the lines to die down a bit at Hï. We got some pornstar martinis and passion fruit mojitos which were delicious!
Calma: This was our favorite meal in Ibiza! We were lucky enough to score the best table at the restaurant, overlooking the port and Old Town! The food was tasty and the view was absolutely stunning. Though we were lucky enough to get in without a reservation, I would recommend making one in advance just in case!
La Oliva: The food here was kind of mediocre but the atmosphere was incredible. If you can, try to go for dinner and get a seat at one of the outside tables! It is located in the Dalt Vila area and is in a prime location for people watching, enjoying live outdoor music, and capturing beautiful photos.
To be honest, we didn’t have amazing food in Ibiza, other than our dinner at Calma. However, we had some delicious food in Barcelona which made up for it! Read more about our Barcelona trip here. :)
Travel Tips:
Although we bought our club tickets ahead of time, you can also get them the day of! However, I’ve heard that they do sometimes oversell the club tickets, and even if you have a ticket and show up too late, they may not let you in. Try to at least arrive before the headliner goes on to ensure you are able to get inside!
If you are looking for something a bit more relaxing, but still close enough to walk to the action of the clubs, the area where we stayed was phenomenal. Taxis to and from the clubs and Ibiza Town were easy and cheap, and if it came down to it, we could have easily walked back to our hotel.
Speaking of taxis, they are generally pretty easy to come by. If you are at a beach club, or a more isolated restaurant or hotel somewhere on the island, they should be able to call one for you. Or, if you are in a busy part of town, you can wait at one of the several taxi stands. We did this a few times and only had to wait a couple of minutes for a taxi to show up!
Wear comfortable, closed toed shoes at the clubs. Like any venue, the floor can be littered with broken cups and grime, and the last thing you want is for someone to step on your foot or get cut from a shard of glass on the ground.
