A Weekend at Sundance Film Festival: Food, Films, and Park City Tips
Sundance Film Festival is an absolute dream for movie lovers, foodies, and anyone who loves the energy of Park City in winter. From the incredible films to the unforgettable culinary experiences, lively nightlife, and charming Park City streets, Sundance offers a little something for everyone. Over multiple trips, I’ve discovered what makes Sundance unique and how to make the most of your experience!
Accommodations
Staying near Main Street makes a huge difference during the festival, but accommodations can be expensive, so planning ahead is key.
Book early: Aim for 4–6 months in advance for hotels or Airbnb options.
Airbnbs for groups: If you’re traveling with friends, a multi-room Airbnb within walking distance to Main Street is ideal.
Location matters: Staying close to the action saves time and makes it easy to explore restaurants, theaters, and nightlife without worrying about parking or shuttles.
Food & Drink
Park City comes alive during Sundance with incredible dining options. Here are some highlights:
ChefDance: A must for food lovers! Each night, ChefDance brings in a different chef to create a four-course dinner with wine and beer pairings. Past chefs have included Beau MacMillan and Casey Lane. Tickets can be pricey, but the experience is unforgettable.
Blind Dog: Delicious Asian entrees and sushi in a relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for a casual dinner, especially after an evening out.
Jon & Vinny’s Popup: This LA pop-up offers some of the best Italian food you’ll find at Sundance. It is a definite must-try!
The Bridge Café and Grill: Great for a quick, relaxed lunch when you first arrive.
Tao Nightclub Popup: The go-to spot for nightlife during Sundance (and the place you will likely see the most celebrities!) There are always great DJs playing here over Sundance weekend.
Things to Do & See
Sundance Films
Of course, the heart of Sundance is the films! Here are some tips for making the most of screenings:
Plan ahead: Buy tickets in advance if possible. Popular films sell out quickly.
Be flexible: Arrive early or ask attendees if they have extra tickets; walk-up availability often exists.
See multiple films: Try a mix of documentaries, indie films, and premieres to get the full Sundance experience.
Main Street
Main Street is the center of activity during the festival, lined with boutiques, restaurants, and pop-up events. Walking here is a must - perfect for people-watching, spotting celebrities, and getting a feel for the entire festival vibe.
Iconic Venues
Egyptian Theater: Snap a photo of the famous Sundance marquee - it’s a classic festival moment.
Tao Nightclub: A hotspot for nightlife and celeb sightings!
Insider Tips for Enjoying Sundance
Focus on experiences, not checklists: Don’t try to see everything. Pick a few films, restaurants, and events that excite you most.
Dress for winter: Park City can be cold. Layering and comfortable shoes are essential.
Explore beyond the theaters: Main Street, pop-ups, and local spots often hold some of the most memorable moments of Sundance even beyond the films!
Enjoy the festival energy: Sundance is as much about the people, parties, and atmosphere as it is about the films.
