A Girl's Trip to Ibiza, Spain
Ibiza has quickly become one of my favorite destinations. From the iconic clubbing, to the beautiful beaches, shopping and more - there is no shortage of things to do on this magical island. Here, I’ve laid out everything I love doing in Ibiza. Enjoy!
Accommodations:
Hotel Torre del Mar: We chose this hotel for its proximity to both Ibiza Town and the clubs on Playa d’en Bossa. It’s roughly a 25 minute walk/8 minute drive to both Ushuaïa and Hï. It is also about a 15 minute taxi drive to Ibiza Town! The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly, and the best part was the breakfast buffet each morning! I would highly recommend adding this on for the extra ~€15 per person per day.
Tropicana Ibiza Suites: This art deco style hotel is the perfect place for a weekend in Ibiza - it is situated in the heart of Playa d'en Bossa near Hï, Ushuaïa, dozens of shops, restaurants and grocery stores. Not to mention it’s only about a 5 minute walk to the beach! The rooms are spacious and have great amenities, and the staff is kind and helpful. While we didn’t have a chance to use the pool, it is definitely a great place for some photo ops before a night out!
Things to See/Do:
Ibiza Town: Ibiza Town is definitely worth visiting if you have the time! The historic Dalt Vila area has some of the best shops, restaurants and sightseeing in town. This area is especially enchanting at night. :) We spent time there on each day of our trip, and saw something new each time!
Clubs (Ushuaïa, Hï, Pacha): No trip to Ibiza is complete without partying at one of the iconic nightclubs! I’ve consistenly used this amazing website to check which djs are playing on the island during our trips, and purchased tickets through it as well. Ushuaïa, Hï and Pacha are all amazing, and the DJs they bring in are equally amazing. See more travel tips about this below!
Beach Club: After a long night of clubbing, you’ll most likely need a day of rest and relaxation. We decided to book two beach loungers and an umbrella for the day at Cotton Beach Club, which is on the southwest part of the island - about a thirty minute taxi ride from our hotel. We paid about €160 for the two beach chairs, umbrella, towels, waters, and it also included a chilled bottle of wine. The water was calm, crystal clear and the perfect temperature for taking a dip! There are plenty of beach clubs to choose from across the island, but I would definitely suggest Cotton Beach Club if you’re not sure where to go.
Boat Day: We booked a full day sailboat excursion through Airbnb Experiences and had a wonderful time. Our hosts Alberto and Irina made the day very enjoyable and included waters, coffee, wine and even a light lunch for everyone on board. We sailed to S'Espalmador Island and then on to Platja de Ses Illetes on Formentera. The water was some of the prettiest I’ve ever seen, and we were able to get out and swim, snorkel and even paddle board at both stops.
If you’d rather do a beach day on your own schedule, you can also book ferry tickets here and take the quick 30ish minute long ferry ride to and from Formentera-Ibiza. Once at the ferry terminal in Formentera, you can grab a taxi and take it up to El Ministre restaurant, which sits right on Platja de Ses Illetes. When you’re ready to head back to Ibiza, you can have them call a taxi to the restaurant to transport you back to the ferry terminal.
Food/Drinks:
Zanzibar: We stopped here in between Ushuaïa and Hï and got a few great cocktails while we waited for the lines to die down a bit at Hï. We got some pornstar martinis and passion fruit mojitos which were delicious!
Calma: This was our favorite meal in Ibiza! We were lucky enough to score the best table at the restaurant, overlooking the port and Old Town! The food was tasty and the view was absolutely stunning. Though we were lucky enough to get in without a reservation, I would recommend making one in advance just in case!
La Oliva: The food here was kind of mediocre but the atmosphere was incredible. If you can, try to go for dinner and get a seat at one of the outside tables! It is located in the Dalt Vila area and is in a prime location for people watching, enjoying live outdoor music, and capturing beautiful photos.
Es Boldado: This lovely cliffside restaurant overlooks Es Vedra, and is absolutely magical at sunset. Be sure to order the paella and a glass of sangria while you watch the colors dance off of the ocean and magnificent Es Vedra rock formations! Be sure to make a reservation for sunset - tables fill up quickly!
Travel Tips:
Although we mostly have bought our club tickets ahead of time, you can also get them the day of! However, I’ve heard that they do sometimes oversell the club tickets, and even if you have a ticket and show up too late, they may not let you in. Try to at least arrive before the headliner goes on to ensure you are able to get inside!
Taxis are generally pretty easy to come by. If you are at a beach club, or a more isolated restaurant or hotel somewhere on the island, they should be able to call one for you. Or, if you are in a busy part of town, you can wait at one of the several taxi stands. We did this a few times and only had to wait a couple of minutes for a taxi to show up!
Wear comfortable, closed toed shoes at the clubs. Like any venue, the floor can be littered with broken cups and grime, and the last thing you want is for someone to step on your foot or get cut from a shard of glass on the ground.
