Travel Tip Tuesday: Choosing the best airport to fly in/out of
If you are flying into a city that has multiple airports surrounding it, check flights landing at a few different airports to guarantee that you are getting the cheapest flight! Many times, flights will be significantly different in price based on whichever airport you are flying into, even if they are only a few miles apart.
For example: New York City has three major airports in the surrounding area - JFK, LaGuardia and Newark. For our trip next week, we are staying in the Lower East Side, which is about a 30-40 minute drive from each of these three airports. However, we chose to fly into the Newark airport because the tickets were much more affordable than those landing at JFK or La Guardia.
Comparing flight prices and destinations can be easily done by checking the flights offered by individual airlines, as well as by checking on travel search engines such as Expedia, Kayak, Priceline, etc. There is another search engine that I love and use quite frequently, but I will save that one for another Travel Tip Tuesday. π
Another quick tip: Use Uber Pool and Lyft Line whenever you can. There is a two seat limit with each of these services, so if you are traveling solo or with one other person, both of these are great options for getting to the places you need to go. Because you are essentially "carpooling" with other passengers on the same route, the fares are often about 1/2 the price of the normal Lyft and Uber services. Just be aware that sometimes these rides can take a little bit longer than the normal ones, so I wouldn't advise it if you are in a hurry!
I hope this helps some of you when planning your next big trip! Happy traveling, friends! πβοΈ
