Nashville, Tennessee
Back from Nashville! What a fun city. In all honesty, Iโve never been a huge fan of country music so when I agreed to go to Nashville with my mom for our annual girls trip, I wasnโt quite sure what to expect. ๐ Luckily, I was VERY pleasantly surprised!! Nashville is an awesome city. The people are sweet, the food is delicious and the booming music scene is the best part!
We stayed for 5 nights which was plenty of time to see and do everything that we were hoping to do! However, I think if you were just going to stick to the downtown area for, say, a bachelorette party weekend, I think you could easily spend two or three nights and it would be plenty of time!
Accommodations:
- We stayed at the Omni Hotel, which we LOVED. Itโs beautiful, modern and itโs right downtown! Itโs also connected to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Hatch Show Print, for those interested in visiting either of those two!
Food/Drinks:
- Biscuit Love: This. Place. Is. Life. Changing. There will most likely be a line out the door, but the food is worth the wait! Particularly the bonuts: Biscuit Loveโs very own delicious creation. These biscuit donuts are basically fried biscuit dough, rolled in sugar and topped with blueberry compote and lemon mascarpone. ๐๐ผ Delish!
- Honky Tonk Central: This was my favorite bar that we went to on Broadway! This tri-level bar overlooks all of the craziness of Broadway and offers different live music on each floor! The food is pretty great too! ๐
- Luigiโs City Pizza: Three words my friends. Hot Chicken Pizza. If youโre craving pizza, this is the place to go! The Hot Chicken Pizza was one of the best meals I had in all of Nashville!
- Pancake Pantry: We heard from multiple people that this was somewhere we should not miss! Similar to Biscuit Love, we waited in about a 30 minute line to get inside. The food and service were pretty good, but Iโm not quite sure it was worth the wait overall. (I would recommend Biscuit Love over Pancake Pantry!)
- Bakersfield: If Mexican food is more your style, this place has great guacamole, tacos and margs! I got the pineapple margarita and the fish and shrimp tacos and they were all delicious! ๐
Things to do/see:
- RCA Studio B: This was by far the coolest experience we had on our trip! We purchased the combo ticket for the Country Music Hall of Fame and the RCA tour and it was well worth every penny. They transport you to and from the Hall of Fame and the Studio and the guides are very knowledgeable and entertaining! Our guide completely immersed us in the experience by telling us detailed stories about when Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton and other famous musicians recorded songs at the studio. I would HIGHLY recommend this for any Elvis Presley lovers out there, or just those of you wanting a fascinating little history lesson about the most famous musicians of Nashville!
- Country Music Hall of Fame: This was combined with our RCA Studio B tour and it was also well worth the money! The museum is filled to the brim with hundreds of country music artifacts and memorabilia. (My favorite part was Elvis Presleyโs gold plated Cadillac! ๐)
- Belle Meade Plantation: This beautiful mansion was where one of the wealthiest families in all of Nashville lived in the 1800s, and more notably where Seabiscuit, Secretariat and several other Kentucky Derby winning racehorses were bred and trained! If you have some extra time in Nashville, this is an interesting tour to check out!
- Ryman Auditorium: This was the previous home to the Grand Ole Opry, and where many musicians still currently play! Although there were no shows there during our stay, I would definitely recommend getting tickets for a performance here. The intimate setting of the auditorium would make it a great place to see a concert!
- Gaylord Opryland Resort / Grand Ole Opry: The Opryland Resort is like the Disneyland of Nashville. Inside you can find multiple restaurants, bars, gardens, shops and even a riverboat tour! This is a great place to check out and even better if you are traveling with kids. We spent a few hours walking around the resort before heading to the Grand Ole Opry that night. This was also one of my top favorite parts of the trip! It doesnโt matter who you see perform at the Grand Ole Opry because all of the musicians are extremely talented and the show is super entertaining. Be sure to book tickets ahead of time - most shows tend to sell out!
- Jack Danielโs Distillery: For this little excursion we had to rent a car, but it definitely made for a fun day and an interesting look into the production of one of the most famous whiskeys in the world! If you are over 21, be sure do do the Flight of Jack tour - you get to sample 5 different whiskeys and take home a souvenir Jack Danielโs glass at the end! ๐
- The District: This is where the partyโs at! Nashville isnโt nicknamed โNashVegasโ for nothing! Either side of Broadway is lined with bar after bar for about three full blocks. Broadway is packed with people day or night and itโs a great place to grab drinks with a group of friends! Plus the people watching is the best here. ๐
