Breckenridge, Colorado

Breckenridge, Colorado

Hi everyone! We just got back from a fun filled girl’s weekend in one of Colorado’s best mountain towns - Breckenridge!

I’m assuming if some of you have ever visited any Colorado mountain towns, it was most likely in the winter. Winter sports are huge here so I don’t blame you! BUT - as a Colorado native, I can easily say that summer is the absolute most beautiful time in Colorado. The weather is great, all of the little towns are buzzing with people and there are so many fun activities to do! Breckenridge is a perfect example. 😊

Read below for a recap of our trip!

Accommodations:

  • Hyatt Vacation Club at the Ranahan: We booked this hotel on a whim and I was so happy with our decision! It was a beautiful resort complete with indoor/outdoor pools and hot tubs, nice decor, gorgeous views and wonderful rooms. We upgraded to a suite which was only slightly more than the normal room and we had a full kitchen and living room with a fireplace! We also had a huge deck which was perfect for taking in the views! The only downside was that it wasn’t within walking distance to Main Street, but it was only about 10 minutes driving. 😊

The pool was a dream!

Food/Drink:

  • Clint’s Bakery & Coffee House: We came here for breakfast one morning and it was delicious! We each got coffees and breakfast sandwiches, and Rebecca and Jessica got a freshly made brownie and cream cheese strawberry croissant!

  • Fatty’s Pizzeria: This place had great, unique pizzas. We ordered the Greek pizza and the Clam’s Casino pizza, as well as the crab and artichoke dip for an appetizer. It was all very good!

  • Breckenridge Brewery: Although we had to wait for a while (it gets very busy) this was such a great place to have a drink and dinner. It’s located right on Main Street and because of the long wait times for dinner, we were able to get some beers in their beer garden and wait for our table! The weather was perfect, they had music playing and it was great for people watching and hanging out. 😊

  • Abbey’s Coffee: This little coffee shop is technically located in the town of Frisco, only a short drive from Breckenridge. We stopped here for a quick coffee and breakfast burrito before we went paddle boarding and it was perfect and delicious!

Things to do/see:

  • Isak Heartstone (aka the Troll of Breckenridge): This is a must see if you’re in Breckenridge! It’s located right on the edge of Main Street and is super easy to find - all you need to do is search for “Isak Heartstone” on your gps! It does get busy however - you’ll most likely have to wait in line to see it and take a photo, but it’s worth it!

  • Walking around Main Street: Main Street in Breckenridge is super cute - it has TONS of great restaurants/bars, boutiques and little souvenir stores! We made it a point to come to Main Street every day of our trip because it’s just a great place to hangout!

  • Paddle boarding on Lake Dillon: This was by far my favorite part of our trip!!! Lake Dillon is a beautiful reservoir in between the towns of Frisco, Silverthorne and Dillon. Here, you can rent boats, kayaks, paddle boards and you can even take sailing lessons! We brought up two paddle boards of our own but decided to rent one for the day so that we would each have one. We decided to launch on the southern most part of the lake, near Blue River Arm Trailhead. The water was way calmer on this side and we could actually find parking! (Trying to find parking in the marina can be a nightmare, so be sure to get there early!) Overall, it was amazing! We brought some drinks and snacks and paddled out to Silver Dollar Island - one of the many beautiful little islands on the lake. We docked our paddle boards, had a picnic here, and then paddled back to the shore once some rainy weather started to roll in.

  • Visit nearby towns: Breckenridge is located near several awesome little mountain towns - Frisco, Dillon, Silverthorne, Keystone and Copper are all within a few miles and they are all fun to explore! Frisco has a great little Main Street with fun shops and restaurants, and Silverthorne is known for it’s outlet shops, for all of my shoppers out there!

TRAVEL TIP: I-70, the highway that runs from Denver up through the mountains, can get quite backed up with traffic, especially on Friday and Sunday afternoons. To avoid some of this traffic, you can take Loveland Pass, which is a beautiful and scenic back way that most people don’t take. At the very top of it, you can stop for a beautiful photo opp! See below!
