Chicago, Illinois
Sorry I’m just now finally getting around to writing this blog post! I was crazy busy through the holidays and am just now getting some time to sit down and talk about our fun girls trip to Chicago that we took in November! It was a short trip - we got in late Friday night and left Sunday night but we jam packed a TON of things into our time there!
Accommodations:
- We stayed at the W Lakeshore and loved it! We got a great deal on it through Expedia and since none of us had ever been to Chicago, it seemed fitting to stay in a hotel right in the heart of everything! Upon arrival, we asked the front desk if we could have a lake view room and he happily put us in a room with an incredible view overlooking the lake and Navy Pier! It’s also located within short walking distance to Cloud Gate, The Art Institute and tons of great shops and restaurants!
Things to do/see:
- Cloud Gate (The Bean): This is probably the most famous Chicago landmark! It’s located in Millennium Park and is the perfect place to take one of the famous mirrored photos that you see everyone posting! 🙈
- The Art Institute: This is an absolute MUST on your trip to Chicago. It has some of the most notable pieces of artwork in the world! We got lucky and were even able to see the temporary Andy Warhol exhibition which was incredible.
- DuSable Bridge: We stopped here for a perfect photo opportunity! It’s right in the middle of several great shops and restaurants and offers a great view and an even better place for a photo!
Food/Drinks:
- Al’s Italian Beef: We were told by a local that this was one of the best places to get a Chicago style hot dog and it definitely did not disappoint!
- Joe’s Seafood: We came here for our “fancy” dinner of the trip and it was…decent. I hate to say it but we honestly weren’t blown away with the food quality especially for the hefty price tag. 🙈
- Three Dots and a Dash: We stopped here for a couple drinks one night and loved it. It is a cute Polynesian themed bar with a great atmosphere and yummy tiki drinks!
- Magnolia Bakery: We stopped in here one morning for a few coffees and treats and we were so happy that we did! The vanilla lattes, banana pudding, and cheesecake that we ordered were all incredible. The banana pudding just melted in your mouth!
- Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria: This was by far our favorite meal of the trip! We had never had Chicago style pizza before, so we ordered their most popular item: the Deep Dish Malnati Chicago Classic! It was PHENOMENAL. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Chicago!
We had a great time and would love to go back! If I went back in the summer, I would love to do a river cruise and explore the Navy Pier, since it was a little too cold to do in November. 😊 Below I’ve included some of the pictures from our trip!
