Cancún, Mexico
Each year, my family has a tradition of doing a trip together. This year we chose to go to Cancun!
Let me just say that Cancun is one of my absolute favorite places in the world. It depends on where you live, but from my home in Colorado, Cancun is a pretty easy, quick and relatively inexpensive trip. We stayed for five nights at the Fiesta Americana Condesa All Inclusive, in the hotel zone of Cancun. In my Mexico travels, I have stayed in both all inclusive hotels and in Airbnbs, and have loved both. But! Going the all inclusive route definitely does make things easier. I mean, who doesn't want unlimited food and drinks on vacation? 😍
Day 1: We flew from Denver to Cancun and took a shuttle to our hotel, where we were greeted with coronas at check in! 🍻 After this we went to El Mexicano for dinner and dessert, then took advantage of our first night there and loaded up on shots before heading to the beach for some late night ocean swimming 🙈
Day 2: Today was all about relaxation. Since it was our first full day, we laid by the pool and the beach, played in the ocean, found sea shells and did lots of eating and drinking. We explored the hotel a little bit more and then ate at the hotel's buffet for dinner. After dinner we went to a sports bar in the hotel and enjoyed some more shots and drinks before heading back to bed.
Day 3: Isla Mujeres!!! (More info about today on next blog post 😎)
Day 4: R&R day! Our day exploring Isla Mujeres was incredible but also a little exhausting, so we all took this day to lay by the pool, read, play in the ocean and relax. In the afternoon, we took the city bus to the downtown area and went to Señor Frogs for dinner and drinks! (Super touristy, I know 🙈) I secretly love that place. After dinner, we walked through town for a bit and then made our way back to the hotel!
Day 5: Today was our last full day on the trip, so we spent most of it eating, drinking and relaxing again! We spent a while at the swim up pool bar in the morning, then went to the hotel's delicious beach/pool side restaurant, La Cevicheria. We are here every single day for lunch! They had the most delicious fish tacos I've ever had in my life. If you stay at or are visiting Fiesta Americana, make a stop at La Cevicheria and get an order of fish tacos. 🙌🏼 That night, the hotel put on their weekly Mexican night with a huge buffet and Mexican show afterwards!
Day 6: Last day! Today was about taking it all in before we left beautiful Mexico. We woke up pretty early and got some breakfast from Kambu, another restaurant near the pool with a beautiful view of the ocean. After that we went and played in the ocean for a bit. There was a storm rolling in so the waves were pretty big but that made things fun! 🌊 After one last lunch at La Cevicheria, we packed our bags and headed to the airport!
For the most part, it was a pretty relaxing trip, which is just what I was looking for. I've already been looking at more Mexico vacations since I've been home 🙈 I can't wait to go back!
