Vail, Colorado
Growing up in Colorado, I had quite a few opportunities to explore each of the amazing mountain towns Colorado has to offer. My absolute FAVORITE town in Colorado, maybe even one of my favorite places in general, is Vail. The skiing, hiking, restaurants and hotels there are all incredible - just to name a few things.
Vail in the winter is awesome, but Vail in the summer is especially spectacular. So I figured I would highlight a few of my favorite things to do/see in Vail in the summertime!
Favorite events:
- GoPro Games
(Running usually every first weekend in June, these games showcase the most talented kayakers, rock climbers, slack liners, etc. It lasts for about four days and is an absolute blast π)
- Vail International Dance Festival
(Usually in August, this two week festival brings in the world's best dancers with shows almost every night at Ford Amphitheater.)
- Oktoberfest
(Usually held in mid-September, Vail Village and Lionshead each host Oktoberfest for a weekend. Bring or buy your own beer stein so you can try all of the delicious beers Oktoberfest has to offer!)
- Vail Village Farmer's Market
(This farmer's market lasts nearly 5 months, and is set up all throughout Vail Village every Sunday in the summertime.)
Favorite activities:
- Hike Berrypicker Trail
(This is my favorite hiking trail in Vail - it takes you straight up Vail Mountain and has gorgeous views)
- Ride the gondola
(Ride the gondola to the top of the mountain and check out the views from the top, or grab a burger and beer here after you hike up Berrypicker!)
- Walk around Vail Village/Lionshead
(Vail Village and Lionshead are full of fun stores, restaurants and things to do for all ages)
- Go to the pool
(This one may sound silly, but if you have a nice pool at your hotel or wherever you are staying, go to it. Being at the pool surrounded by beautiful mountain views, flowers and hot Vail sunshine is truly one of my favorite and most relaxing activities. π)
Favorite restaurants:
- Bully Ranch
(Order a Mudslide, their most popular cocktail!)
- Red Lion
- Ludwig's
(Go here for brunch, it's delicious!)
- Fiesta's
- Matsuhisa
- Bookworm
(This place is an awesome bookstore/cafe with crepes, coffee and breakfast sandwiches)
- The Gashouse
- Blue Moose Pizza
- Zino Ristorante
(Come here on Tuesdays for 1/2 off mussels!)
- The Left Bank
