Isla Mujeres, Mexico
On the third day of our trip to Mexico, we decided to do an all day excursion to Isla Mujeres, an island off of the coast of Cancun!Β I loved it so much, I decided it needed its own post. (Plus, I took wayyyy too many pictures for just one Mexico post π)
Β
Rundown of the day:Β
At 8:30 a.m. we took a 45 minute boat ride over to the island. As soon as we boarded the boat, they offered us beer, tequila, sodas and water (because why wait to start drinking after 9 in the morning? ππΌ)
Once we arrived at Albatros Beach Club on Isla Mujeres, we relaxed, ate lunch and enjoyed the beautiful beach and scenery before loading back onto the boat to go snorkeling. We took another quick 5 minute boat ride to a nearby reef, where we snorkeled for about 45 minutes and saw tons of beautiful fish! Β
After snorkeling, we made our way back to the island where we rented golf carts to explore the island. This was my favorite part of the entire trip! I've never seen so much beautiful scenery in my life. First we stopped at a turtle sanctuary where we saw turtles, nurse sharks, sting rays and all sorts of tropical fish. We then rode to the Isla Mujeres lookout point which was BEAUTIFUL. π There you can shop, dine and hike up to Mayan ruins.
After we parked our golf carts back at the beach club, we loaded back onto the boat to go to the opposite end of Isla Mujeres to the downtown area. There we bought fresh fruit popsicles and some souvenirs, before we got too hot and had to go relax in the shade for a bit. At 4:15 the boat picked us up and took everyone back to Cancun!
It was a short excursion, but it was my favorite part of the trip by far. I already want to book another flight back down to that beautiful part of the world! ππ΄
